Church Planting Residency

The Residency builds upon the foundation laid in the School of Church Planting and provides the planter a strategic season of leadership growth in a healthy church environment while he creates a ministry plan and structure for the new church plant.

Depending on the previous experience of the church planter, the residency lasts from 9 months (at minimum) to 24 months (at most). During this time the planter (and spouse if married) continues to be trained and equipped in an existing congregation with the oversight of an experienced leader coach. This training occurs in an environment of relational discipleship between the church planter and coach in the host church.

During the later part of the residency, the planter begins to lay the foundation for the new church plant. After the first six months of residency, the church planter will have developed or been trained/experienced in at least the following aspects of ministry:

  • Confirming the church planter's call
  • Clarifying the church planter's vision
  • Determining the church ministry focus
  • Clarifying the church's purpose and mission
  • Developing the church values and styles
  • Designing the church strategies and structures
  • Creating the church ministry models and plans
  • Creating and refining a church planting proposal
  • Establishing a core group and launch team
  • Mentoring prospective ministry lay leaders and staff
  • Developing gospel-centered ministries
  • Leading the church to healthy growth
  • Managing conflict in the church plant
  • Organizing church finances and administration

Residency sites are available in Anglican Mission churches in diverse geographic areas. More information will be posted on these opportunities soon.
