Anglican School of Church Planting
Saturday, May 24, 2008, 2:00 PM - Sunday, June 01, 2008, 12:00 PM
The Anglican School of Church Planting is an 8-day intensive training designed to provide a theology, models, and practical application of the six characteristics of a functioning Anglican Church: Worship, Discipleship, External Focus, Communication, Administration, and Pastoral Care.
Through direct instruction, lively discussion, active engagement, and field experiences, participants will be equipped for church planting ministry by experienced Anglican leaders. Participants also will be refreshed and renewed through prayer, Bible study, fellowship, encouragement, fun, and celebration.
How will the School equip me to take the next step in planting a church?
The church planter/team will digest and assess their learning and compose a specific, strategic ministry plan for how each of the six characteristics will be lived out in their church plant. Every afternoon will be devoted to working on this plan with the coaching of an experienced church leader. Field experiences in the evenings and on the weekends will provide the opportunity to participate in ministry in each of the six areas. Training in fundraising will be provided to equip planters with the tools needed to raise financial and prayer support for themselves and their new churches.
Who is it for?
The Anglican School of Church Planting is primarily for church planters who are preparing either to enter a church planting residency with the Anglican Initiative for Mission or to launch an Anglican Mission church plant through an existing relationship with a sponsoring church or organization. Church planters in the early stages of launching a church also are invited to apply for admission.
Enrollment is limited to 25 planters or teams. Planters are strongly encouraged to bring their spouse, if applicable. Additionally, one member of the planter's launch team may attend (if the launch team has been formed). We are not able to accommodate the team member's spouse. Planters are asked not to bring their children, as child care is not available.
All applicants must participate in the Anglican Initiative's assessment process to be considered for admission and must have at least begun the ordination or reception process for the Anglican Mission in the Americas by having an application on file with the AMiA Office of Clergy Credentialing when they apply for the School.
Where and when is it?
The Anglican School of Church Planting will be held on the campus of Christ Church, Plano, TX, May 24-June 1, 2008. Planters and their teams must plan to arrive in Plano by 2pm on May 24 and depart after the 11am worship service at Christ Church on June 1. Please plan to attend the full 8-day session.
How much does it cost?
An application fee of $50 is required of each church planter and team member to partially fund the required assessment. Tuition will be approximately $350 for the church planter and $150 each for the spouse and team member. Housing will be provided in the home of a member of Christ Church. Lunch will be provided each full day of the school. Participants must arrange and fund their transportation to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and will be required to purchase materials to complete pre-work prior to arrival at the School.
Those who are applying for a residency placement with the Anglican Initiative after completion of the School will be required to invest an additional $450 to partially fund an in-depth assessment interview, and will be required to raise funds to cover a portion of their living and ministry expenses during the residency. Training in fundraising will be provided as part of the School.
